About

A bit about me

I'm a mechanical engineering student at the University of Iowa focused on robotics and automation, currently interning at Schneider Electric. I like problems I can get my hands on: writing a Python script to pull data out of a stack of PDF test reports, 3D-printing a fixture that finally makes a measurement repeatable, or figuring out why a machine is throwing bad parts.

Outside of coursework, I'm bilingual in Arabic and English, mentor first-generation engineering students through the National Society of Black Engineers, and tutor English in my community.

Experience

Where I've Worked

Mechanical Engineering Intern, Schneider Electric

May 2026 – Present
Cedar Rapids, IA
  • Support UL 489 circuit breaker validation testing: calibration, overload, endurance, interrupting ability, and dielectric voltage withstand testing
  • Built a Python workflow to extract key values from PDF oscillograms and test reports into structured Excel files, cutting manual review time on repeated test data
  • Collect and analyze breaker test data to identify trip behavior, component wear, and failure patterns; document findings to support root-cause analysis and compliance review

Manufacturing Engineering Co-op, Schneider Electric

Jan 2025 – Aug 2025
Cedar Rapids, IA
  • Programmed and operated a Keyence VR-Series 3D optical profilometer for high-precision, non-contact measurement of manufactured parts
  • Trained and qualified an AI-based visual inspection system, building part image sets so the model could catch defects on the line instead of downstream
  • Designed and 3D-printed a custom fixture to standardize part spacing during scanning, improving measurement repeatability and cutting setup time
  • Analyzed quality inspection data to correlate defect patterns with die wear, informing tooling-change decisions
  • Led a 5S workplace committee initiative; standardized layouts and labeling to reduce search/setup time and sustain weekly audit compliance

Hands-On Roots

Quick Lube Technician, Billion Auto Chevrolet GMC Sep 2025 – Present
Auto Service Technician, Walmart Inc. (cut service time 50% via workflow redesign) Oct 2021 – Oct 2024
Co-Founder, Auto Detailer, Auto Revivals Jul 2022 – Jul 2023
Projects

Things I've Built

AI

Job Application Tracker

Personal Project
  • Built a Python tool that scans Gmail, uses the Anthropic Claude API to identify job-application confirmation emails, and logs company, position, location, and date to a Google Sheet
  • Added duplicate detection so repeat runs never double-log a job, and flagged uncertain results for manual review rather than guessing
Python Claude API Gmail API Google Sheets
IoT

Industrial IoT Lab Series

University of Iowa
  • Built embedded sensing and actuation systems on a Raspberry Pi Pico 2W, integrating temperature, ultrasonic, and motor-driver modules
  • Used MQTT-based communication to transmit device data; applied automation and process-monitoring principles to connected systems
Raspberry Pi Pico 2W MQTT Sensors
CAD

Truck Steering & Suspension Component Design

University of Iowa, Product Design & Realization
  • Modeled an axle, knuckle, and steer arm in Creo Parametric using swept blends, ribs, drafts, and helical sweeps for manufacturable geometry
  • Created dimensioned engineering drawings and built/evaluated assemblies to verify fit, interfaces, and clearances
Creo Parametric GD&T Assemblies
